Cozy home

We had a guest over this weekend and I realized while cleaning- our house still needs to be more of a home. We have the necessities- couch, tables, chairs.... but not enough cozy. Not enough character. I partially blame this on Nicole of LovelyGirls - who has the most gorgeous style and made me want to redecorate immediately after our meeting last week. But I digress. This week has me longing for those extra touches... bowls instead of stacks of magazines. More candles, less clutter!

A Real Motivational Poster

Thank you Runners World

I love this. I also cannot WAIT until I can actually use all of my fitness-centric Christmas gifts- cold weather pullovers, running gloves and a race belt. Santa brought me a pretty hefty fever this year with a stocking full of coughing (not coal!). I'm on the mend, and I may still make the New Years Day 5K I had on my schedule. But for now, wearing those cute pullovers on the couch will just have to do ;)

Something Blue...

I came across this sweet image on my RSS feed and immediately wanted to save it for my bridal inspiration. How lovely would it be to make your wedding dress into even more of a cherished keepsake?

Sadly, the blogger never released the post (weird how Google Reader does that), and she also did not cite a source other than "found on SMP". If this is your image or you know where it came from, please let me know so I can credit you 100%!

Side note- it's December 1st!!!!

Obsessed

Is there anything more perfect than these flowers? It makes me happy even though it's 30 some degrees in October!

wet hair

The combination of rain and a broken hair dryer has left me with a tangled mess of wet hair for 3 days now. Oh how I wish I could pull off chic looks like this- instead, I was blessed with lots n lots of unruly locks that need to be serumed, dried, and straightened within an inch of their life. Amazon- please hustle with my new hair dryer. thank you :)

First day back...

Hi there :) After 2 months of beautiful summer, I'm back. Mostly, because I wasn't on the computer as much.  Partly because I've been planning the wedding that I'll be dreaming about all year!

It's the first day back in so many ways- and this pretty picture stopped me in my tracks this morning. Enjoy*

Wedding Wednesday- I. Want.

I would like this photo to drive the inspiration for my entire wedding...

It scares me a little to stray from navy as a base, but *swoon*...

You've Got Mail

Happy Monday!

This weekend, my amazing little sister (and maid of honor!) teamed up with my parents to throw the boy and I a fantastic engagement party. It was wonderful to be surrounded by people we loved on such a pretty Saturday. The menu complimented the Kentucky Derby perfectly (which I think was a happy coincidence) with Tennessee iced tea, fried chicken, pulled pork, lots of salads and red velvet cupcakes. Riley was probably the biggest fan of the cupcakes. She ate 7! (oy.)

The boy and I have not registered yet, but were surprised to receive some lovely gifts from our guests. Immediately, our "wedding etiquette" kicked in and we made an organizational list so we can send thank you notes asap! Over the past 2 months, I've been picking up packs of thank you cards that the boy won't cringe at, but I think it may be time to go custom!

After receiving a note from our newly married friends, I was smitten with the idea of letterpress stationary with our names across the top. I haven't found our perfect match yet, but these are a few ideas...

Ideally, I would love to find a local vendor that does stationary- but etsy has some great options too! What do you use for thank you notes or mailed letters?

Shoe Love

I ran across these on Style Me Pretty the other day and fell in love.

Of course, I immediately went over to the Nina site and found something similar (minus the peony shoe clips). They fit my wedding shoe needs- low heel (2.5), pretty affordable at under $80, lovely, and the option of something blue!
Nina Culver heels in New Navy
Now- a search for a pretty shoe clip. I love how this bride personalized something classic to make it her own :)

this morning

This morning, I walked down the hill to the river, and saw something beautiful. Dancing across the river in the gray, rainy morning was a bright orange flame. A flame so bright, I thought someone had started a fire to keep warm. As we got closer, the flame got smaller, and I realized- it wasn't a flame at all. Instead, it was the reflection of a small, barely noticeable amber light high up on the banks. The light didn't make much of an impression on the ground, but the glassy surface of the river brought it to life.

Just because you don't make a noticeable impact to those immediately surrounding you certainly doesn't mean you don't make an impact at all.

Wedding Wednesday- Venue Inspiration

This morning, the boy and I visited our first venue- a beautiful historic mansion in one of Delaware's State Parks. The grounds were gorgeous (despite the fact Spring has not arrived here in the least), the coordinator sweet, but we are still looking. Here are some of the pictures guiding us on our search...

Wedding Wednesday- Color Inspiration

Even though we don't have a venue yet, I've been day dreaming of a chic outdoor wedding that isn't the least bit stuffy. I think color definitely sets the mood for an event, so I've been pulling inspiration from every corner of the internet in hopes of finding something that says "us".

I know Navy will be an anchor for the day- crisp, a little preppy, and easy to make fun, it's a great base and won't make the boy feel out of place one bit! Accent colors that are dancing in my head- sunny yellow, bright coral, and gray seersucker (just for my man).

spring daydreaming...

I should probably get a tumblr for all the inspiration photos I have tucked away in folders. This one makes me smile :)
